Opening a new Restaurant in Balamban !
Even I did that a few Times already it is always exiting. Here I was in a new Town, no connections and no friends nearby. at least I quickly found a nice little Restaurant Space to rent next to the local Balamban Gaisano Mall, and lucky as I am, a 2 storey townhouse to rent right at the Sea and next to my Resto.I
However, all my worries during the Six Weeks of renovation and building were gone right after the opening. As one could expect in a smaller town ( although Balamban had well over 66,000 Inhabitants then ) the mouth-to- mouth Propaganda machine worked smooth and well.
Within days I had a full house and steady reservations from the Business located in the Cipdi Intl’l Export Processing Zone.
I also made friends with a lot of People in short time, so it did not get “boring” at all.
My Menu was held simple again, I had to train new Staff and also did not wanted to become a “slave”of my work, so I kept it small. A few salads, soups appetizers and 10 main courses, that should do it. And it did.
3 months after the opening I broke even with the revenue of the “Big City” across the Island. And that with 50 % lower prices. And I still had enough time to go sailing on longer weekend, as my main business was during work days. The Tsuneishi Shipyard and FBMA executive personel usually also goes on vacations then and I could close for a few days or limit operation to simple items only.
The move to Balamban was a good decision.
